The Centre
The Runaway Bay Sport and Leadership Excellence Centre (RBSLEC) is a ‘residential’ facility that is one of 24 sites that sit within the Department of Education’s Outdoor and Environmental Education Centre (OEEC) sector.
The teaching and learning environment involve RBSLEC teachers delivering a range of activities that utilise the numerous facilities that make up the Gold Coast Performance Centre, while facilitating water-based experiences at the near-by Broadwater.
The facilities and spaces we use to deliver our program include:
Onsite
- Gym and group exercise spaces
- IAAF accredited track and field
- Outdoor (50m) and indoor (20m) pools
- Hockey pitch
- 2 indoor spaces (classrooms)
- 2 beach volleyball courts
- 2 outdoor activity spaces
- Outdoor basketball court
Surrounds
- The Broadwater (water and beach-based activities)
- The Pine Ridge Reserve (bushwalking and cycling activities)
- The Runaway Bay Sport Precinct (fields, cycle track and indoor centre)
Staying
Staff and students are accommodated at the Gold Coast Performance Centre in the 292 beds spread across 9 lodges. The facilities and services that are provided as part of your stay include:
- 8 x quad rooms (2 bunkbeds/room) in each lodge for students
- 2 x double room (2 single beds) with ensuite in each lodge for staff
- Wheelchair access lodges
- All rooms airconditioned
- Common room with TV
- Kitchenette for basic food preparation
- Buffet-style meals provided by our kitchen in hot and cold serveries
